Wild Heart Ranch is located in Claremore, Oklahoma. We provide medical or infant support to any indigenous wild animal in need of assistance and release it into suitable wild habitat once care is completed.

This young fox arrived at Wild Heart Ranch on Monday, February 15th, 2010.

She had been captured in a leg hold trap. Her foot was swollen and damaged. During her bandage changing and cleaning on day three with us, it was obvious the foot had lost all circulation and was dead.

Responding to treatment well otherwise, the little fox is now hydrated, eating well, destroying her cage at night (a good sign) and showing no signs of infection as we continue to defend her with antibiotics as the foot continues to slough off. We will not amputate and risk removing viable tissue. We want to save as much of her foot as possible so that her chances of healing and being released are as great as possible.
Thank you to Doctor Cash-Warren and Hooves Paws and Claws in Claremore for providing her medical care!
